As someone who avoids dairy, coconut, and stevia due to intolerances, I am always on the hunt for the mythical protein bars that are dairy free, coconut free, and no stevia. Finding ones that fit that particular bill is basically like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Or a unicorn… anywhere.
The good news is, they do exist, they are just super hard to find.
Why? Because most dairy-free and/or vegan protein bars either have stevia or coconut in them. Because, of course they do. And the ones without stevia are usually whey-protein based or rife with coconut something or other (coconut or MCT oil or coconut flavored).
WHOMP, WHOMP.
I have searched high and low for my unicorn protein bars—ones that are dairy free, coconut free, and stevia free—and am happy to report that I have found three brands with very delicious options.
🥁 Drum roll, please. 🥁
My unicorn protein bars that are dairy-free, coconut free, and no stevia are:
- Unstoppable Keto Bar: The Peanut Butter Cup flavor uses allulose as the main sweetener, so it’s a great low-carb option. It has a whopping 2g of net carbs, making this the only keto bar on the list. It also happens to be quite tasty. There used to be another plant-based option from this company that I liked called Chocolate Chip Brownie but they recently changed it to Chocolate Almond and the ingredient list now has stevia extract in there.
- NuGo Slim: My go-to flavor is Crunchy Peanut Butter and they are probably the best dairy-free protein bars I’ve ever had. There are several other flavor options, including Chocolate Mint and Toasted Coconut. The bars have 11g net carbs, so not the lowest carb option out there, but great nonetheless.
- ALOHA: These protein bars taste like candy. My kids even like these, which is saying something, since they usually turn their nose up at stuff like this. My favorite flavors are Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip (are you sensing a pattern here yet?) and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, but that’s only because the store I get them from didn’t have the full range of flavors. The bars have between 13-16g of net carbs, depending on what flavor you choose.
